Last year, a total of 131 threats were reported against courts around the country, most of them against staff. In 2023, 101 threats were reported and in 2022 the number was 64.
In total, the National Courts Administration noted 862 different security incidents last year.
The incidents can be anything from vandalism and harassment to burglary. But what stands out is the number of reported threats, says Andreas Sundberg, head of security at the Swedish Courts Administration, at a press conference.
In 2024, the agency received two cases of violent acts, which is a decrease compared to the four cases reported in 2023. In 2022, five cases of violence were reported.
