Outside New York's largest library, signs with slogans like "No kings in America" and "Resist tyranny" were seen.

Many others protested against the deportations of undocumented migrants, and thus against the migration authority ICE, by chanting "No ICE, no fear, migrants are welcome here".

On a beach in San Francisco, hundreds of people gathered to write the words "impeachment" and "dismissal" on a massive scale by standing in line. Even in the traditionally conservative state of Texas, a small group of demonstrators gathered in the city of Galveston.

Usually, I would lean back and wait for the next election. We can't do that now, we've already lost too much, says 63-year-old author Patsy Oliver.

The turnout was, however, smaller than on April 5, when several larger protests were held across the USA under the slogan "Get rid of the paws".
