Princess Victoria is wearing the dress that the Queen wore at the Nobel Prize Party in 1994, Madeleine used her dress as late as 2023, and Silvia herself is radiant in yellow, the same creation she wore at the King's 50th anniversary on the throne.
It's important to show that they don't compromise on their interest in fashion and style, but have their finger in the air. Victoria's dress with this almost sculptural top feels incredibly modern. I think it's really inspiring, says Frida Zetterström.
“Incredibly trendy”
The trending color among this year's dresses seems to be pink, with Minister of Finance Elisabeth Svantesson (M) and Minister of Culture Parisa Liljestrand (M) each choosing a shade.
It's fun to see politicians sparkle so much and choose bold colors. Svantesson's bright pink blazer paired with orange leather gloves, which are incredibly trendy right now, is a hit, says fashion expert Nina Campioni.
The combination of orange and pink brings to mind a previous Nobel Prize dress, says Frida Zetterström.
It's a nod to Sara Danius' dress in the same colors from 2018 and I think that's intentional.
Magdalena Andersson's (S) clothing choice also signals power, according to experts. The party leader wears a bright blue dress with a jacket-like double-breasted collar and lapels.
It feels like a statement of power, that's what I thought as soon as I saw it, says Frida Zetterström.
Stands out
For men, it is more difficult to stand out in a gala context, but there was one who succeeded, according to Nina Campioni. Romina Pourmokhtari's husband Fredrik Holwaster wore a lace tie, a so-called "bolo tie" that broke away from the tailcoat.
He outshines her, even though she is absolutely elegant in her simple dress, it doesn't feel Nobel-worthy. He is super trendy in his western-inspired look, it feels daring when men can't wear much else other than tailcoats.
