These banks offered the lowest variable mortgage rates in July

The average variable interest rate in July was 2.73 percent, according to comparison service Zmarta's review of the 13 largest mortgage providers. This is slightly lower than the 2.75 percent in June.

Skandiabanken offered an average interest rate of 2.58 percent. The highest variable interest rate was charged to mortgage customers at Ikano Bank, which had an interest rate of 2.92 percent.

Among the major banks, the difference is smaller. Swedbank, which was the lowest, had an average interest rate of 2.68 percent. Nordea's average variable interest rate of 2.77 percent was the highest.

The average interest rate on a mortgage with a three-month fixed term:

Skandiabanken: 2.58

Landshypotek: 2.61

Danske Bank: 2.67

Swedbank: 2.68

SEB: 2.69

Regional insurance companies: 2.71

Handelsbanken: 2.73

SBAB: 2.74

Nordea: 2.77

Ica Bank: 2.78

Mortgage: 2.85

Ikano bank: 2.92
