Big brother Arbër, 30, chose to represent Kosovo and has passed 30 national team matches for the nation. Little brother Besfort, 22, has played for the country's U21 national team and can still decide to follow in Arbër's footsteps and decline Swedish A-national team play.
But national team coach Stefan Pettersson has received clear indications that Besfort Zeneli will choose Sweden.
Otherwise, he would not have been selected. We have talked a lot with him and his attitude towards playing for Sweden. There are no doubts and there were none earlier either in his world.
"No discussion"
If he represents a national team, he would gladly do it for Sweden.
Something Besfort Zeneli confirms to Göteborgs-Posten.
I have always dreamed of playing in Sweden's national team. There was no discussion about it, he says.
But Pettersson throws in a caveat.
Then you don't know how he will feel if he doesn't get to be here in four or five years, but he has shown an incredible enthusiasm for getting to be here. It's fun, says the national team coach.
"A bit like a shock"
Rookie Besfort Zeneli was the big surprise when national team captain John Dahl Tomasson selected the squad that will face Luxembourg away on March 22 and Northern Ireland on March 25 at Strawberry Arena in Solna.
It was very positive. He (Dahl Tomasson) explained the situation and how he thought and then we talked about how he saw football and how he saw me. He told me that they had followed me for a very long time and that they liked what they saw.
Then he told me that I would more or less be called up to the gathering in March. It was incredibly fun. It came a bit like a shock, but it was primarily incredibly fun. A very nice feeling in the body, says Besfort Zeneli to GP.
