Brynäs player Tilde Grillfors gave great hopes of a Swedish bronze when she made it 1–0 almost halfway into the second period. Edit Danielsson and Ebba Westerlind provided the goal-scoring passes.

But in the final period, the Czech Republic was the better team. Veronika Hujova equalized and with just over six minutes left, Linda Vocetkova scored the 2–1 winner.

The goal was video-reviewed for a possible high stick, but was approved.

The Czechs also had a shot that hit the post.

With a little over four minutes left, Sweden got the chance to equalize in a power play. Sweden pulled the goalie and played six against four in a desperate attempt to get the 2–2.

But the Czechs held on and celebrated the bronze in Vanda, Finland.

Canada took the World Championship gold a few hours later after a 3–0 win in the final against the USA. Caileigh Tiller, Dorothy Copetti, and Stryker Zablocki scored the goals.
