The iconic red sequined shoes that Judy Garland wore in the film "The Wizard of Oz" have got a new owner – for 28 million dollars, equivalent to over 300 million Swedish kronor.
The shoes were put up for auction by an auction firm in Dallas in November with an estimated value of just over 3 million dollars. Several people bid and the bidding was finally won by an anonymous buyer.
The shoes are one of several red pairs that Garland wore in the role of Dorothy in the 1939 film.
The pair that has now been auctioned off was stolen in 2005 from the Judy Garland Museum in her hometown in Minnesota, but was recovered again in 2018. It was the shoes' former owner, Michael Shaw, who had lent them to the museum, who sold them.
