According to his manager, Brian Liebman, Isiah Whitlock Jr. passed away "peacefully" after a short illness.
Whitlock was perhaps best known for his role as corrupt Senator "Clay" Davis on the television series "The Wire." In a career spanning more than 30 years, he also appeared in series such as "Veep" and "Your Honor."
He also collaborated extensively with Oscar-winning director Spike Lee. Whitlock appeared in six of Lee's films, including "25th Hour" and "BlacKkKlansman."
His death comes less than two weeks after Whitlock's "The Wire" colleague James Ransone was found dead in a Los Angeles home.
Whitlock was 71.
