Already in the first episode of this year's season of "The Traitors," the loyal ones voted out a traitor.
We have broken many records this year. It's the first time a traitor was voted out directly, it's the first time the loyal ones won and we have the highest win sum so far, says Kaeli Abdi.
Three Loyal Ones
In the final, three loyal ones, Abdi, Samir Badran and Yänjaa Westgate, were together with the traitor Sara Skyttedal. They had all four promised to trust each other, but Kaeli Abdi betrayed the others' trust – and managed to take home the win for herself and Samir.
It was completely chaotic. I thought we would be eliminated, but when Kaeli got us to vote to banish someone, I was overjoyed. I couldn't have done it myself, because it would have ended with the others voting me out, he says.
If the duo had not voted out Sara Skyttedal, she would have taken home the entire win right in front of their eyes. As a traitor, she describes the result as "bitter", but also a relief.
It was a relief to avoid having to keep up the facade I had been keeping for over a week. At the same time, it was of course a huge frustration to stumble at the finish line, she says.
Kaeli Abdi says she felt uncertain about Sara Skyttedal's loyalty, but that the other participants refused to listen.
In the beginning, I was annoyed that everyone thought she was a traitor just because she's a politician. But after a while, I felt that I didn't trust her, she was so sad and worried all the time, but it didn't feel genuine. When I tried to bring it up, I was interrupted.
“Ran Hard”
Samir Badran says he ran a different strategy, even if he, like Kaeli Abdi, kept a low profile at first.
If I had suspicions about someone, I went all in. When I was sure I knew who the traitor was, I ran hard, because you have to get people on your side. You can't keep quiet, or you'll miss your chance.
In the end, despite often being wrong in their guesses, Samir Badran and Kaeli Abdi were the winners and got to share the win sum of 335,000 kronor. Sara Skyttedal lets them win.
You can conclude that they may not have been the game's biggest strategists, but they made themselves likable to many, including me, and that's just as important. I felt like I got back with the same coin, after having deceived them the whole time, she says.
Based on a Dutch concept, "De verraders". Available in several other international versions.
First aired in 2023, when Katia Mosally won as the sole traitor. She now leads the aftershow program "The Grave Chamber". The second season was won by the traitors Kelda Stagg, Nadim Ghazale and Thomas Bodström.
The game is about 20 more or less well-known people being locked in a castle, where some of them are chosen as "traitors" while the rest are "loyal ones". Every night, the traitors can kill a loyal one, but the participants also get to vote out someone together at the "round table" once a day. There are also competitions where the participants try to increase the win sum together.
