Mona Sahlin summarized her feelings in the final episode on TV4 after the decision was made.

I've never been so deceived by anyone in my entire life!

Patrik Norqvist proved to be the perfect traitor and emerged as the sole winner after a dramatic final episode that was the culmination of a season in which he managed to get ahead without the other participants ever becoming particularly suspicious.

"I have zero votes on anything. It can't be done better. And it's the only time we traitors haven't recruited anyone," says Patrik Norqvist with pride in his voice.

Appear loyal

He says he hoped to be designated a "loyalist" and then just glide along as long as possible without making much of a fuss. Being designated a traitor instead didn't change much.

"I had to appear trustworthy and establish early on that I wasn't a threat. That was really my only tactic."

Space physicist Patrik Norqvist believes that his role as a serious researcher made people less likely to suspect him.

"I'm the kind of person who always speaks the truth; I talk about physical phenomena and maybe I don't look like an actor. It's very possible."

But Patrik Norqvist was no stranger to intrigue, even when his fellow traitor Torbjörn Averås Skorup was voted out. What is not seen in the final episode is that before the finale, he tricked Johan Kücükaslan into voting out Anna Anka and then sharing the prize pool.

Sahlin duped

He also managed to dupe Mona Sahlin.

"Many people probably think, 'Damn, how cool to put a politician in there and win all the money.' But the only thing I could do when Torbjörn went out was to deceive the others," he says.

The show was recorded last fall. Patrik Norqvist has had time to reflect on his victory, even though it is only now that he can talk about it.

"When I see that, I think, 'I can never have this kind of flow, no matter what show I do. It will never go this well,'" he says, laughing.

He is 60 years old. He is a senior lecturer in space physics at Umeå University. He has appeared on television a lot, including Filip and Fredrik's "Boston Tea Party" on Kanal 5 and in Nyhetsmorgon on TV4. Earlier this year, he received the Mensa Prize for his ability to present complex science to a broad audience.
