The World Cup premiere in Ruka got off to a strange start when the timing broke down and confusion spread among both skaters and spectators. My first thought was: “Horror, am I going so slowly today,” says Ebba Andersson after the race.

The International Ski Federation's (Fis) split-time system stopped working from the first pole vault in the women's cross-country race. Some skiers were given completely misleading times while others were not even registered in the results list.

I noticed that I didn't have any time, says Ebba Andersson and continues:

My first thought was: Wow, am I driving so slowly today, is today one of those days?

Andersson says that at the three-kilometer crossing she didn't get any time at all.

I thought: "Is it at that level that it's not even worth giving me a time?" says Andersson, who finished fourth.

Winner Frida Karlsson was not deterred by the problems.

No, I went out into the field so early, so I didn't have a good idea of where I was in the race.

Moa Ilar thought it was awkward.

I thought I was fighting for third place at first, but then I realized I was fighting for second place. It was a bit unclear.

Fis tells Aftonbladet that they don't know what the problem is, but that it should be resolved by the men's race.
