Sida's distribution of humanitarian aid takes an unnecessary amount of time and resources, according to an audit of the agency conducted by the Swedish National Audit Office.

The National Audit Office has examined how effectively Sida works with humanitarian aid, which in 2024 amounted to SEK 9.6 billion.

In many cases, aid goes to the same crises and partners year after year. Despite this, Sida has several processes each year to distribute aid.

"We believe that it is possible to simplify the processes and still be able to make well-founded decisions. There is room for efficiency here," says Auditor General Christina Gellerbrant Hagberg in a press release .

The review also shows that Sida's decision-making is not always completely clear and that there are shortcomings in terms of systematic follow-up.
