The renovation is planned to start in the summer of 2027 and is expected to take four years. In the meantime, the central bank's operations will be conducted in temporary premises on Klarabergsgatan and Sveavägen in Stockholm.
The cultural and historical values of the Swedish Central Bank building must be preserved, which places special demands on how the renovation may be carried out.
"The Swedish Central Bank strives for transparency in all matters, including this one. We are aware that the amount may be adjusted before a formal investment decision is made, but we want to communicate our assessment already at this stage," says the Swedish Central Bank's Chief of Staff Susanna Grufman in a press release .
