The Swedish Arts Council's websites have been down for 19 days due to a data breach. They are now back up and running, but the police investigation continues.

Since October 31, it has not been possible to reach the Swedish Arts Council's website, Bokstart, the website for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award or the service for applying for and reporting grants.

We are very happy that we have been able to open our three websites and online services, which are very important for everyone who wants to apply for and report on grants, says Kajsa Ravin, Director General of the Swedish Arts Council.

The deadline for applications and reports has been moved forward for those affected.

It is not entirely clear exactly what information was leaked from the agency in the breach, but internal documents and personal data may have been exposed to unauthorized parties. Some personal data may also have been disseminated for grant applicants.

"We are reviewing this very carefully and have contacted employees, interns and others who have worked with us in recent years. It is ID hijacking and fraud that the data can be used for," says Kajsa Ravin.
