The World Championship silver in Cairo, Egypt, was followed by troubled times at home. Victor Lindgren had problems with his eyes.
To get the problems under control, he started using special eye drops, but the Swede's worries weren't completely gone when he started warming up for the 10-meter air rifle World Cup final in Doha, Qatar.
"I still saw a little blurry in the first series of the qualifiers, but my vision became clearer and clearer. Then I guess the work itself is in the spinal cord, so I had to rely a little more on feeling," he says in a press release.
In the final, he saw clearly.
And delivered.
The 22-year-old won after a dramatic duel against world number one Lihao Sheng, China.
"The pulse was extremely high at that moment, so the last shot could have landed anywhere. When I saw it was a 10.8, I breathed a sigh of relief," he says.
This is Victor Lindgren's biggest success in a World Cup context. He has previously won Olympic silver from Paris 2024 and World Cup gold in Baku 2023, among other things.
