The story of the hardcore band Refused is to be made into a film.

It is Balsam Hellström, who previously made "A Heart is Always Red" about the Empire, who will depict 90s Sweden through the history of the Umeå band Refused.

The film "Exit to end" follows the band from the basement venue in Umeå to the major festivals and the band's last tour, and at the same time wants to portray the hardcore movement that wanted to change both music and society.

"'Exit to End' is more than a music documentary. It is a story about the price of idealism, about friendship and reconciliation – and about a country in transition where a small town in the north became world-famous for something no one could have predicted," says Balsam Hellström in a press release.

Refused is currently on a farewell tour and will play their very last gig at home in Umeå on December 21st.

"Exit to end" is produced in collaboration with SVT.
