World number two Iga Swiatek lost to 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Dubai.
Russian tennis talent, ranked 14th in the world, thus became the youngest semifinalist in the tournament's history after winning two straight sets (6–3, 6–3).
It was also the first time Swiatek lost to a player younger than 18 years old on the tour.
Andreeva has now won five matches against top ten-ranked players, and two against players ranked top two.
