Sales for the entire restaurant industry rose by 1.5 percent in volume, compared to the same quarter last year, according to the industry organization Visita.
It was the first time in five quarters that the restaurants had increased sales on an annual basis.
But it's not picking up everywhere. Fast food restaurants and staff canteens in particular are seeing an increase, up 5.4 and 4.2 percent respectively. Hotel restaurants and lunch and dinner restaurants are still sluggish.
The increase in demand will probably continue in the future, according to Visita's chief economist Thomas Jakobsson.
"It is an important positive signal that the restaurant economy has bottomed out, but there is still some way to go to reach the same level of consumption as before the reductions in 2022," he says in a press release.
