On Friday, Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip had a daughter, born at Danderyd Hospital, 49 centimeters long and weighing 3.6 kilos. On Saturday, a salute was fired. During Monday's council, the names of the newborn princess were announced.

When the king announced the names, temporary confusion arose as he was heard saying "Inse" as a name. But correctly, it will be Ines Marie Lilian Silvia. Ines will become the Duchess of Västerbotten.

The king is very pleased, says Margareta Thorgren, information manager at the court, to Aftonbladet.

According to Thorgren, the king found out about the names just before the ceremony.

It's easy to misread.

The king also took the opportunity to address the dark time that Sweden is going through after the mass shooting in Örebro last week. He spoke about darkness and light and the struggle between them.

Let us together see hope in this gloomy time.

A thanksgiving service, Te Deum, will also be held during the day in the Royal Chapel, with invited representatives from the government, parliament, and other parts of public Sweden, announces the court.

The newborn princess is the king's and queen's ninth grandchild and little sister to Prince Carl Philip's and Princess Sofia's three sons, Princes Alexander, Gabriel, and Julian.
