All children between the ages of 10 and 17 who have been charged or where charges have been brought for involvement in murder or attempted murder between 2020 and 2024, and where there are links to organized crime, shall be included in the survey.
In total, the study will include around 150–200 children and aims to help municipalities break the recruitment of young people by criminal gangs.
Among other things, registers, documents from social services and judgments will be reviewed.
We lack in-depth knowledge about how the upbringing conditions, school environment and efforts from society in general have affected these children, says Björn Eriksson, Director General of the National Board of Health and Welfare, to the radio.
