SVT recently announced a savings package of 355 million kronor and the elimination of 141 positions. At the same time, it was announced that several popular programs would be discontinued. The reason is partly that broadcasting costs have increased by 192 million kronor for 2026 since TV4 left the terrestrial network at the beginning of the year.
These are costs that SVT wants compensation for. But the government has been slow to respond, which SVT CEO Anne Lagercrantz has criticized.
Parisa Liljestrand tells Aftonbladet that the terrestrial network issue is important and requires time to prepare.
"It is reasonable that we take the issue seriously and intend to submit a proposal. But what it will look like and what it will contain is too early to say," Parisa Liljestrand tells Aftonbladet.
She also noted that SVT receives approximately five billion kronor per year and can choose to reprioritize its funds.
"I think it's important to remember that public service receives a lot of taxpayer money over an eight-year period. It's important to work with what you know and the known factors you have," Liljestrand tells Aftonbladet.
