The Louvre in Paris announces a 45 percent increase in admission fees for non-European visitors next year.

Starting January 14, 2026, citizens from outside the European Economic Area (EEA), which includes the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, will have to pay 32 euros to visit the Louvre, 10 euros more than the current entrance price, media company BFMTV reports.

Culture Minister Rachida Dati has previously expressed a desire to introduce a "differentiated pricing policy that will help finance the museum's operations."

According to the Louvre, 77 percent of visitors last year came from countries other than France. 13 percent of them came from the United States and 6 percent from China, a larger proportion than visitors from countries such as Italy and Germany – which each accounted for 5 percent of the 8.7 million visitors.

The new pricing does not affect the existing differentiated pricing model where, among others, visitors with disabilities and job seekers have free admission, the Ministry of Culture states.
