The Liberals receive even lower support, 2.3 percent, when Swedes are asked which party they are closest to, compared with who they would vote for if there were an election today. It is mainly women, specifically women born in Sweden, who are abandoning the party compared with the May 2025 survey, according to Statistics Sweden's (SCB) large party sympathy survey.
The Social Democrats have been losing support in the sympathy survey since May last year; this decline is also statistically significant. It is mainly men with a high school education who are leaving.
For several of the parties, the changes are not statistically significant.
Party sympathy refers to the party a person considers closest to or sympathizes with, which is not necessarily the party they would vote for in a parliamentary election. Last week, Statistics Sweden reported answers to the question of which party people would vote for if there were an election today.
