The Lady Crowns are playing a four-team tournament this week, where the winning team gets a ticket to the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina, which starts in exactly one year.
The Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway are the teams providing the opposition.
It's a bit nerve-wracking, but I also think it's fun when it means so much and everyone wants the same goal. These are big games and a lot is at stake, there's no denying it. But if we do what we're supposed to, we'll come out of here with three wins, says Swedish center Josefin Bouveng to SVT.
And in the first match, where Norway provided the opposition, the Lady Crowns didn't falter.
Sweden dominated the game from the first face-off, and won the shot statistics in the first period with a whole 20–1.
But there was no landslide in the goal column. Sweden won "only" 3–0, after goals scored by Lova Blom, Lisa Johansson, and Lina Ljungblom.
Already on Friday, it's time again, when the Netherlands await, before Sweden concludes the tournament against Denmark on Sunday.
The Lady Crowns have participated in all Olympic Games since 1998, when women's hockey became part of the program.
