The Swedish Tax Agency's Director General Katrin Westling Palm and two other managers at the agency are being investigated for breach of confidentiality, reports Dagens Nyheter. They are suspected of having disclosed personal information, in violation of the duty of confidentiality.

According to the Prosecution Authority, which according to the newspaper has decided to initiate a preliminary investigation, the suspected crime was committed in June of this year.

The preliminary investigation has been initiated after a police report was filed by lawyer Johan Eriksson. He represents a person who is in dispute with the Swedish Tax Agency over a large tax debt and it is his personal information that was allegedly disseminated in the media by the Swedish Tax Agency's Director General and two other heads of government agencies.

"The Swedish Tax Agency is engaging in illegal activism. They are using the full force of their authority to target a private individual, and do not seem to care that they are violating confidentiality," lawyer Johan Eriksson told the newspaper.
