The government wants to push through a new film policy before the elections in September, Minister of Culture Parisa Liljestrand (M) tells Sveriges Radio's "Kulturnytt".

Last year, the government's film inquiry put forward proposals that included reduced VAT on cinema tickets and a film fund to support Swedish film production. The fund will be financed, among other things, through a fee from streaming companies.

However, the Minister of Culture does not want to commit to the specific proposals.

"Generally, regarding the film inquiry, the government and I hope we will be able to submit a bill to the Riksdag before the election," she tells SR.
