The 32-year-old forward scored Örebro's 1-0 goal in powerplay seven minutes into the first period in Örnsköldsvik. It was the 15th goal of the season for the team's top scorer – but the first in eleven matches (4-5 loss away to Leksand on January 16).
It's really nice, of course. I've had some opportunities, but maybe haven't made myself worthy of so many during this period, says Patrik Karlkvist to TV4 Play after the ten-match goal drought came to an end, according to Expressen.
It came the day after Karlkvist became a father again. On Monday evening, Örebro Hockey published a picture of his and his partner's newborn daughter. The couple already has a son.
It's super fun. It's gone well and everyone's doing well. It went quickly. I missed the first one, so it was an incredible experience to be a part of, says Karlkvist.
The win meant that eleventh-placed Örebro (60 points) closed in on tenth-placed Malmö (63 points) in the battle for the quarterfinal spots. Before Tuesday's full round, the teams were separated by six points. After the seven matches, the difference was three points since Malmö lost 3-5 to third-placed Färjestad at home.
Ninth-placed Modo (53 points) didn't just lose ground to Örebro. Twelfth-placed Linköping (56 points) took a point at home against seventh-placed Växjö since the match ended in a 3-2 win after overtime for the away team.
