The Liberals' sad and somewhat strange announcement has made more people want to get involved, he tells TV4 Nyheterna.
He links the increase to the Liberals (L) last Friday blurring their red line against sitting in government with the Sweden Democrats (SD).
"The conclusion we draw is that the Center is the only liberal freedom movement we have now in Sweden. We are adamant about not giving SD influence," says Hervieu.
A battle is now raging in L, where confidence in Simona Mohamsson as party leader will be tested at an extraordinary national meeting.
Hervieu also believes that L's stance on teenage expulsions is behind the new C memberships.
