Meteorologists in Ireland and in the United Kingdom are warning of the storm Éowyn approaching from the Atlantic. The storm is believed to be one of the most powerful in several decades and thus poses a deadly threat to those exposed.
The storm is expected to hit the Irish coast early on Friday, and then continue northeast towards Scotland.
Ireland's Meteorological Institute Met Éireann issued a red warning, which is rare on the weather-beaten and Atlantic storm-exposed island.
The storm is then expected to continue towards the Norwegian mainland. Éowyn is expected to reach Sunnhordland on Friday morning, and the Bergen region in the afternoon. Norwegian meteorologists have issued a yellow warning.
