Ukrainian artist Iryna Prots painted the famous helmet of the late Ukrainian athlete and coach for skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych. When Heraskevych refused to take off his helmet - and was washed - she called the decision "a great act of heroism."

Iryna Prots believes the stories of the athletes on the helmet should be known worldwide, especially while international sporting events continue and the war is still ongoing.

"The Olympics are supposed to symbolize peace. But today it's hard for me to understand how there can be celebrations, national anthems, dancing and singing, while we live under air raid sirens and bombs," says Iryna Prots.

It was Heraskevych who came up with the idea for the helmet's design, but it was his father who asked Prots to paint it.
