"You shouldn't be able to set fire to a staircase, for example," says Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa (M), who is standing in for Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (M) at a press conference.

It is already possible to confiscate a tenant-owned property due to serious crime. However, from 1 January 2027, this will be possible if the owner makes the house unsafe, if the owner commits a crime that impairs security in the area, or if the apartment or storage room is used for crime.
