The power failure identified as the source of the problem was fixed at 9:30 p.m. last night. However, problems remain with some of Telia's customers, according to William Fröding, press spokesman at Telia. He would not go into which ones and how many, however:
We are working with top priority to ensure that it is up and running during the day.
In addition to the police's 114 14 number, several hospitals in the Stockholm region also went into emergency mode due to telephony problems. Food giant Coop's payment system was also affected and stores across the country were forced to close.
"We are of course sorry for the problems this has caused. As a customer, you don't think that problems with paying in our stores are due to problems with the network," says Linn Hultén at Coop's press service.
When asked what exactly caused the error, William Fröding replied:
It has to do with the power supply. Our technicians will do a deeper analysis of the error to find out how it could have occurred so that we can ensure that it does not happen again.
William Fröding does not want to answer how many of Telia's customers and which of the telecom giant's services were affected.
Exactly which services were affected was unclear. It affected some business services and for some, even mobile connectivity.
