The CEO and co-founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, has been granted permission to temporarily leave France, where he is accused of a crime.
According to a source, Durov left France on Saturday morning, with the authorities' permission. He is reportedly on his way to Dubai, according to another source.
Telegram's spokesperson refuses to comment on the matter but promises to make a statement later.
Durov, 40, was arrested at Bourget Airport outside Paris in August 2024, suspected of not having acted against criminals using the messaging app Telegram. He was released but was banned from leaving the country after being questioned by police for several days.
Durov denies the criminal charges.
