The incident - where, according to local media, the boy crashed the snowmobile into a rock - occurred between Kiruna and Abisko, and the police were informed about it at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The boy was first treated in Kiruna but was then transferred to Norrland University Hospital in Umeå. Region Norrbotten says on its website that he has life-threatening injuries.
