The 38-year-old was shot with multiple shots on an open street and the murder has been described by the prosecutor as particularly ruthless.
A then 17-year-old boy is convicted of firing the shots and the Stockholm District Court finds that he committed the murder together with a 22-year-old and a 29-year-old man.
The 29-year-old is convicted of ordering and planning the murder. The 22-year-old is convicted of participating in the planning and of handling the firearm, arranging the apartment, and acting as an accomplice at the crime scene.
The adult perpetrators are both sentenced to life imprisonment, but since the shooter was under 18 years old at the time, the sentence is nine years in prison. He has confessed to the murder.
The shooting occurred just before 6:30 pm on Monday, May 6, last year. The crime scene was located near a school and a stone's throw from the heavily trafficked Götgatan and Skanstull subway station. Many people were in the vicinity and several witnessed the murder.
The murdered 38-year-old had, according to the preliminary investigation, connections to the criminal gang environment. The evidence in the case consists, among other things, of witness statements from the scene, as well as DNA evidence.
The shooter is also convicted of two attempted murders. The day after the murder on Södermalm, the then 17-year-old boy fired several shots at two men in a car in Tyresö, south of Stockholm. On May 19, he shot at an apartment in Huddinge where several people were present. One person was hit by two shots but survived.
According to Dagens Nyheter, he is also suspected of an attempted murder in Copenhagen in April the same year.
