The museum opens its doors in the suburb of Tensta in Stockholm, from May 10. There, children and young people will have the opportunity to go beyond tests and grades and "laborate, build, play, create and experience mathematics in new ways". The idea is to combine science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with artistic and cultural expressions.
"Math is both the subject most people dislike but also the one many people like the most. Children and young people are often curious about mathematics when they get to meet it through games, dance, programming, and problem-solving", says Maria Olsson, education manager at the Technical Museum, in a press release.
The new branch is a result of many years of operations in the Järva area. The museum also has a collaboration with Järva upper secondary school, which is located in the same building, and Tensta Art Gallery and Math Centre will be on site to offer homework help after school hours.
The activities are adapted for children and young people between 7 and 19 years old.
