All Syrian and non-Syrian families have been relocated, says Fadi al-Qassem, who was appointed by the government to be responsible for the camp.
He adds that Syrian security forces are searching tents for any families remaining in the camp.
al-Hol was the country's largest detention camp for families and relatives of suspected IS members, and housed around 24,000 people, mostly Syrians but also Iraqis and more than 6,000 other foreigners from about 40 countries.
In January, Syrian authorities took over the camp from Kurdish forces after the Kurds in the area were forced to withdraw. Since then, thousands of family members of foreign jihadists have disappeared from the camp.
