Sweden's great star violinist Johan Dalene becomes the first recipient of Alfvén Society's newly established scholarship of 50,000 kronor.
Dalene receives the prize for "having a natural sense of melodic beauty and a presence that touches and inspires, conveying music with a passion that reaches both heart and soul", as stated in the motivation, among other things.
The 24-year-old Johan Dalene emerged as a prodigy and was named Classical Artist of the Year by Sveriges Radio P2 already at the age of 19, and later also became a New Generation Artist at BBC Radio 3 in the UK. He has released five albums, the latest "Souvenirs", with pianist Peter Friis Johansson, which came out last autumn.
Alfvén Society's newly established scholarship is intended for a prominent young musician who works in the spirit of composer Hugo Alfvén.
