The Swedish Tax Agency has carried out over 150,000 identity checks using biometrics during the past year, the authority states in a press release.
This is the first year that the Swedish Tax Agency uses biometrics for control of individuals who move to Sweden or are to have a coordination number. The control is carried out with digital facial recognition and identity documents are also examined mechanically.
The control takes place at the 58 government service offices that have equipment for biometric control.
