The agency inspected the boarding school this summer after receiving reports of deficiencies in special support and abuse, but later assessed the school management’s efforts as sufficient.

After last week’s police operation and the receipt of around 20 reports of serious incidents over the past week, the authority is now considering a new inspection.

“What we are going to do is look at whether the principal meets the requirements of the Education Act - that is, how actively the principal is working to prevent further crises,” Marie Axelsson, director general of the Swedish Schools Inspectorate, said on TV4’s Nyhetsmorgon.

If the school does not comply with the Education Act, stricter measures can be taken, according to Axelsson.

“We can combine our demands with a fine. We can temporarily close the school,” she told TV4.

A total of five people are suspected of crimes at the school, three of whom are students in custody. Two of them are suspected of sexual harassment and aggravated assault, while the third is suspected of assault and unlawful coercion. Two more people, who were initially arrested but later released after questioning, are suspected of assault and assault and unlawful coercion, respectively.
