In January this year, twelve employees were invited to a spa hotel in Västerås. Some attended the dinner, while others also stayed overnight, writes the union newspaper Publikt.

Now the Human Resources Board has decided to charge the twelve with suspected bribery. Three other employees are also being charged after they were invited to a Christmas party last year.

"As an employee of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you are expected never to accept or request a gift or other benefit that could affect, or be perceived to affect, the objectivity and impartiality of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service," states an investigation by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.

Four employees at the Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) who attended the spa hotel also risk prosecution and losing their jobs.
