She was born as Margareta Lind and grew up in Södertälje. "May she rest in peace", writes the Jordanian royal court in a statement.
During a language trip to London in 1962, Margaretha Lind, 20, from Södertälje met Prince Ra'ad bin Zeid. His father was the Iraqi ambassador to the United Kingdom at the time.
They took a liking to each other and barely a year later, she was married – and a princess of Jordan.
She converted to Islam and got her new name Majda, which is pronounced "Mashda". She spent the rest of her life in Amman, as part of the country's royal family.
The couple had five children together.
She engaged in activities for vulnerable children and refugees. The Swedish royal couple made a trip to Jordan in 2022 and visited, among other things, a refugee camp together with Princess Majda.
The princess gave a summer talk on "Summer in P1" in 2005 and was one of the guests at Carl XVI Gustaf's 50th birthday in 1996.
Princess Majda Ra'ad became 82 years old.
