World number five Möregårdh beat his world No. 88 opponent, but not without worries. He lost the first set and saved three set points in the second, which he won 15–13 to level the match at 1–1.

Möregårdh won the remaining sets 11–6 and 11–8 to take the match 3–1.

Previously, Kristian Karlsson and Anton Källberg won their first doubles match in just 18 minutes.

The Swedish pair defeated Australian Aditya Sareen and Mexican Rogelio Castro 3–0 and advanced to the round of 16. There they will likely face tougher opposition in the seventh-seeded Japanese pair Sora Matsushima and Shunsuke Togami.

Kristian Karlsson also won his first singles match in three straight sets against Baldwin Chan from Hong Kong. Anton Källberg, on the other hand, lost 2–3 to Wong Chun-ting, also from Hong Kong.
