Early Thursday, the Israeli military stopped about 20 boats carrying activists near Crete in the Mediterranean Sea, en route to Gaza. The activists - including several Swedes - were then taken ashore in Greece.
According to Ekot, two people are in custody. One of them is a Swedish man in his 40s, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms to Ekot.
The Foreign Ministry says in a statement to the radio that it is aware that the man is "being held in custody by Israel" and that it is following the case.
According to the organization behind the convoy, Global Sumud Flotillas, the man has Swedish citizenship but is resident in another EU country.
Ekot further reports that Israel's Foreign Ministry identifies the man as a leader of an organization with links to the terrorist organization Hamas.
