"A personal best tonight by five centimeters. I didn't think that was possible at all. I was aiming for 1.92, but 1.96 is much better, so I'm very happy," Ekman says in a press release from the Swedish Athletics Federation.
With her jump, Ekman moved into a joint third place with Ebba Jungmark among Swedish women with the highest all-time marks in the high jump. Only Kajsa Bergqvist (2.08) and Emma Green (1.98) have jumped higher.
"Incredibly wonderful. She is ready for the World Indoor Championships," national team captain Kajsa Bergqvist said about Ekman.
Ekman, who represents Gefle IF, finished third in the competition, which was won by Angelina Topic of Serbia, a World Cup third-place finisher, who cleared two meters.
