Viktor Gyökeres has had an incredible season in Sporting CP, scoring 33 appearances and an impressive 39 goals and 7 assists in the 24/25 season. Even in the previous season, 23/24, he scored 29 goals and 10 assists in 33 appearances. With these numbers, Gyökeres is one of the hottest attacking options on the transfer market.

Gyökeres reunion with Amorim at Manchester United?

Gyökeres' of course has close bond with Ruben Amorim the previous coach in Sporting CP. Ruben Amorim, moved to Manchester United this season, where he failed to get the team together, and Manchester United finished in 15th place, which is the worst league position Manchester United has ever had. Manchester United is in desperate need of a top quality striker due to both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failure to deliver the amount of goals needed. Because of Gyökeres' close bond with Amorim, there have been rumors for a long time that Gyökeres is on his way to Manchester United.

New twist in the transfer saga with Arsenal in the lead

According to CNN Portugal commentator Nuno Farinha, it seems that Gyökeres prefers another destination than Manchester United. It is said that Arsenal is the club that Gyökeres prefers, and that Gyökeres' agent has had talks with Arsenal's owner on Wednesday, and the talks are advanced.

It remains to be seen where Viktor Gyökeres will end up in the end, but one thing is pretty certain - he won't be playing for Sporting CP next season. This is also due to the open dispute that has been going on between Gyökeres and Sporting CP's chairman Frederico Varandas, where the relationship is infected.

Note: It seems that Arsenal is the Gyökeres preferred destination, but nothing is confirmed yet.
