A clear majority of the special sports federations voted to keep the ceiling at ten percent at the Swedish Sports Confederation meeting in Göteborg.
The vote count was 131-58.
Thus, they went against the Swedish Sports Confederation Board's proposal to raise the ceiling to twelve percent.
"The Swedish Sports Confederation meeting has decided that they want to keep the ceiling as it is today. I am grateful that we have had good and constructive dialogue on a difficult issue, as the distribution of economic resources always is", says Robert Casselbrant, member of the Swedish Sports Confederation Board, in a press release.
The Swedish Football Association's new chairman Simon Åström was present at the vote.
"We think the decision is problematic. Especially against the background that Swedish football accounts for approximately 40 percent of all sports activities in the country and the comprehensive inclusion and diversity work being carried out within football", says Åström in a statement, but notes that they are striving for a united sports movement in Sweden.
The Football Association has previously stated that they lose 25-30 million kronor annually due to the current rules that have been in place since 2021. Due to this, football has threatened to leave the Swedish Sports Confederation.
