"Costs in agriculture have increased by a couple of billion in the last two months," says Palle Borgström, LRF's union chairman.
The union says this is due to rising diesel and fertilizer prices caused by disruptions in global trade flows from the war in Iran.
“Our calculations show that a cost increase of SEK 1 billion in agriculture could correspond to approximately 1–1.5 percent higher food prices,” says Borgström.
"When costs increase sharply, prices must follow suit - otherwise we risk knocking out Swedish production," he adds.
