The data breach at the Swedish Arts Council was discovered just over a week ago. The agency now states that internal documents and personal data may have been exposed to unauthorized parties.
The Swedish Arts Council assesses that it is primarily internal documents relating to current and former employees, including interns and other people who have participated in internal work, that may have been exposed in the data breach.
But personal data from grant applicants and other outsiders may also have been leaked.
"The incident has been reported to the Swedish Data Protection Authority and the police. We are collaborating with IT security experts to investigate the scope and strengthen our security procedures," the Swedish Arts Council writes in a press release.
The Arts Council's employees have been informed and others affected will receive letters with further information. Persons with protected identities are urged to contact the Arts Council, even if there is no indication that such information has been leaked.
The Arts Council's regular websites are still down. Those actors who have deadlines for applications and reports will have these moved forward.
