The Swedish women's national team missed out on a medal at the World Floorball Championships for the first time. This means that national team captain Linn Lundström and her assistant national team captain Joel Rauswall will have to leave their positions, the Swedish Floorball Association reports.

Lundström tells Expressen that she is disappointed with her own performance, but she directs her biggest disappointment at the federation. Among other things, she questions the fact that the announcement comes just over a week after the World Cup fiasco.

I'm really surprised by that. I expected the association to evaluate it more deeply. I can't answer for how much they've managed to do in a week, but I find it hard to see that they've managed to lift all the stones besides the obvious fact that we didn't come up in performance and results when it was needed most. Lundström tells the newspaper.

She also feels that she lacked support from the federation after the storm of criticism that followed fourth place in the World Cup, where Sweden fell to Switzerland in the semifinals and Finland in the bronze medal match.

I have missed the union giving me any kind of external support. It is too bad that they do not stand up for our recruitment. There are accusations of friend recruitment and nepotism and those of us who are affected are being left out. They just respond to everything with silence. She tells Expressen.

Christer Abrahamsson, the union's secretary general, states in a press release:

"Our ambitions are high and they should be. When we don't reach the final, we need to stop, analyze and take any necessary measures. The result is a factor in that decision, but it is above all about creating the right conditions for the next World Cup cycle."

Linn Lundström had a contract that extended until 2028. Who will replace the coaching duo is still unclear.

Sweden had nine straight World Cup gold medals before the championship in the Czech Republic.
